Five Tips for a Relaxing Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend is just around the corner, but you still have quite a few weeks to enjoy all that summer has to offer.

Before you order a pumpkin spiced latte, let’s celebrate summer one more time.

  • Throw a Labor Day BBQ, head down to the BBQ area or a local park and fire up the grill.
  • Go for a swim this labor day. If you haven’t taken the time recently to enjoy the community pool, get your suit on and head down.  If it isn’t too busy, do laps or swim in place for exercise in the sun.
  • Make a Labor Day Cocktail and enjoy it on your  own home or on the patio.  Nothing says summer like a gin and tonic or how about a lemonade with mulled blueberries and thyme.  Another great summer treat is vodka, lime juice with fresh cucumber and a bit of sugar.
  • Pack a picnic and head to the park. Pack “sturdy” foods that will stand up to travel.  Cut watermelon into slices so that they are an easy and healthy treat.  Make turkey wraps ahead of time, go light on the dressing as it can get messy in the sun.  Carrots and Celery make great finger foods.
  • Try a new sport. Labor Day is the perfect time to try something new.  Head to the beach and rent kayaks, try paddle boarding or rent a hover board (the only one I could find online was in SD).
