Regular potatoes do all the heavy lifting during Thanksgiving, but if you are looking to give your guest an alternative this year, why not cook up some tasty sweet potatoes? We know it last minute, but if you are still racking your brain for a few side dishes, try this tasty whisky-glazed sweet potato recipe from the Food Network.

Ingredients
4 sweet potatoes (roughly 3 pounds)
4 tablespoons of butter
1/2 cup of agave nectar
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
1/4 cup of whiskey

1 cup of pecans
Kosher salt
3 apples (core, peel, and cut)

Start by baking your sweet potatoes for roughly 30 minutes at 375 degrees. Next toast the pecans in pan with high heat for 2 or 3 minutes. Toss in the butter, agave, cinnamon, nutmeg and cayenne and cooking on low heat 5 minutes. Next pour in the whiskey and salt. Cook for another 5 minutes.

Cut the potatoes crosswise into 1/2-inch slices and place them along with the apple slices, in a baking pan. Pour the whiskey mix on top, cover with foil and bake 15 minutes. Next baste the potatoes with the whiskey juices from the pan, and cook for another 20 minutes. Now serve and eat.
